To be a leading worldwide provider of affordable, easy-to-use, powerful and highly functional object modeling tools built on the Unified Modeling language (UML), using the most modern technologies, with interfaces to the most popular programming languages and databases.

Visual Object Modelers (VOM) is a privately held corporation located in Boulder, Colorado USA.
Visual Object Modelers was founded in 1998 by the original founders of Evergreen CASE Tools (later renamed to Evergreen
Software Tools) whose products included EasyCASE, Database Engineer and EasyER/EasyOBJECT. Prior to
emigrating to the US and founding Evergreen
CASE Tools in 1989, Visual Object Modelers' founder, Rob Pritt, was a senior software/lead engineer
with companies like Marconi Avionics, Ford Motor Company, Smiths
Industries and Sundstrand Corporation where he had extensive
hands-on experience of software engineering, structured analysis &
design methods, and CASE tools. Rob was born and raised in the English
Lake District and graduated from the University of Liverpool, England with an honors degree in Electronic Engineering.
Visual Object Modelers, whose flagship product is Visual UML®
(VUML), develops, markets, sells and supports affordable, easy-to-use
yet powerful and full-featured UML (Unified Modeling Language) based object modeling tools for software developers.
Potential customers can download a free, fully functional,
no-obligation 30-day trial version of the Visual UML Developer
Edition to evaluate and discover its ease-of-use, power,
flexibility, completeness, UML compliance, etc. Not only is the
30-day trial period two or three times longer than that provided by
several competitors, it does not begin until the first time you use
the product so you don't need to worry about it expiring before you
even get a chance to try it.
Over 400,000 people have downloaded Visual UML in recent years resulting in
many thousands of
genuine licensed users of Visual UML
in small, medium and large
companies and educational establishments, both
in the USA and throughout the rest of the world. Visual UML is used
on a daily basis by thousands of satisfied customers worldwide, many
of them well-known companies.
Visual Object Modelers sells its products both directly from its
sales office in Boulder, CO and via a
wide network of resellers, both
in the USA and throughout the rest of the world.
Visual Object Modelers frequently receives genuine
high praises for Visual UML's
ease-of-use, completeness, power and flexibility. Plus, for the
efficiency and quality of its technical support. Visual UML won
Reader's Choice Awards from Visual Studio Magazine in 2004 and 2005.
By pricing the product low (much lower than many competitive
products such as Rational Rose or Together, etc.) and implementing a
simple licensing scheme, we have tried to make it possible for all
members of a team to have their own product license so as to avoid
the difficulties and inefficiencies inherent in having to share or
take turns using node locked and floating licenses. This leads to
increased productivity for the team and its members. It is possible
to equip each and every member of a small development team
(typically 5-10 users) with a license of Visual UML for the same as
it would cost to purchase a single license of a higher cost
competitor such as Rational Rose or Together, etc.
Maintenance updates, minor updates and major updates to the product
are released on a regular basis and are easy to obtain and install.
Licensed, registered users are provided with secure access to a
special area of our web site where they can readily download
maintenance fixes, updates and upgrades that they are eligible for.
Visual Object Modelers partners with other product development companies such as
Microsoft (VBA, VB, VS.NET,
etc.),
EPS Software (Visual
FoxPro Interface), WesternWares
(CC-RIDER), Ontogenics
(hyperModel), NorKen
Technologies (Programmar),
Gorilla Logic, EasyTools
(EasyStruct), Serlio Software
(Case Complete) and others, each of whom provide add-ons or complimentary products to Visual UML,
or provide technology that has been included in Visual UML.

Product Profile |
| |
|
| |
Visual UML® (VUML) is a continually evolving and improving product that has
been implemented from the start using a relatively short,
incremental development cycle. A great many of the
product's updates are implemented quickly, often in direct response
to requests made by licensed users and evaluators.
Visual UML is a native Windows application with a Windows compliant
user interface with the look and feel
of Microsoft Office 2003, Office XP and Visual Studio.NET, unlike its Java-based competitors.
It is also fast and has a relatively small footprint, again unlike
its Java-based competitors.
Visual UML supports all of the UML 1.x diagram types (Use Case, Package,
Class, Object, Activity, State, Collaboration, Sequence, Component,
Deployment and Robustness diagrams) and many extensions (Business
Object modeling, Robustness modeling, Web application modeling using Conallen WAE,
XML modeling, and Data modeling/Database design). Plus, Visual UML also
supports most of UML 2.0, including support for Interaction Overview
diagrams, Activity diagrams, State Machine diagrams, Communication
diagrams, etc. Visual UML is considerably more UML compliant than
several of its competitors, such as Rational Rose. Visual UML has
been implemented closely according to the UML specification and the
UML meta-model.
Visual UML works closely with Microsoft development environments
like Visual Basic 6 and Visual Studio.NET 2001/2002, 2003 &
Visual Studio 2005 and supports
the code generation and reverse-engineering of multiple languages,
including Visual Basic 6 (VB6), Visual Basic.NET (VB.NET), (Visual)C++, C#
and Java.
In addition to standalone operation, Visual UML can also be run as an add-in to Visual Studio.NET 2001/2002,
2003 & Visual Studio 2005
where it can generate C#, Visual Basic.NET (VB.NET) and Visual C++
projects & files, and reverse-engineer C# and Visual Basic.NET (VB.NET) projects
& files. It includes models of the .NET Framework so that you
can inherit and/or reference its Classes, etc. as Types from your
UML Class Attributes, Operations, Parameters, etc.
Visual UML also supports schema generation and
reverse-engineering of several database types is supported,
including Microsoft Access & SQL Server, Sybase SQL Anywhere,
Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL. Support
for XML Schema (XSD) modeling and code generation and schema
generation of the Cache object-relational database is also
available. Visual UML can also interface with XMI, Rational Rose,
EasyStruct, Ontogenics' hyperModel and Serlio Software's Case Complete.
Visual UML has a comprehensive and well-documented object model and
automation interface (read/write) which makes it possible to easily
create add-ons and control Visual UML from external applications
(Visual UML is itself an automation server/COM object) to extract
information from, or put information into it. Visual UML can be
obtained with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) 6 integrated into
it to enable you to create your own add-ins and extensions using the
VB language. Either way, creating your own document generators,
reporting, code generators, reverse-engineer interfaces, etc. is
possible and relatively straightforward to achieve.
